The Warriors opened their season Tuesday night at home against North Muskegon, a familiar opponent after last year’s dramatic overtime win in the district semifinal. The game began as a tight back-and-forth battle, with WMC holding a 13–8 lead after the first quarter. In the second and third quarters, the Warriors found their rhythm—turning up the defensive pressure and knocking down shots. Behind stifling defense and impressive three-point shooting, WMC exploded for a 30–4 run, stretching the lead to 43–12 heading into the fourth quarter. It was a true team effort, with multiple players getting into the scorebook, and the Warriors closed out the night with a 53–26 victory. "I am extremely proud of the effort our team showed tonight. Our guards have been committed to pushing each other every day to get better and it was on full display. We were a little tight to begin the game but once we found our rhythm we were able to create for each other." Sophomore Madie Folkema led the way with an all-around performance: 22 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 3 blocks. Eveline Derdowski added 9 points and 4 steals, while Emersyn Paling sparked the offense from the point guard position with 8 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals.
