Muskegon - The WMC boys' basketball team took the short drive north to Orchard View and came away with a win 42-33. The first quarter was a struggle for both teams, but the Cardinals had an 8-6 lead at the end of 1. The Warriors scored 11 points in the 2nd quarter to take a 17-13 halftime lead. The 3rd quarter was another defensive quarter for both teams with the Cardinals outscoring the Warriors 9-8 and WMC had the lead 25-22 at the end of 3. WMC played solid quarter court defense and earned some critical rebounds to squeeze out the victory. "Coach Guyton had his team ready to play tonight, they play hard and rebounded the ball well," said WMC Coach Matt Haveman. "I think we've had 4 guys out with the flu this week and tonight Tyson Annema was physically unable to play due to it." "I'm proud of this team, they all rallied together and pulled out a win on the road." Brody Haveman led the Warriors with 19 points, Gavriel Modderman scored 6 and Braeden Olsen had 5 points on the night. The Warriors (6-8) are back in action on Tuesday February 10 when they make the trip to Kalamazoo Christian to take on the Comets at 7 PM.
