The WMC Track and Field Teams opened the season indoors on Friday at the GVSU Laker Challenge. With about 1200 athletes participating, the teams had good competition through the ranks. The Girls' Team is especially young with over half of the team participating for the first time. Athletes used this indoor meet to gain valuable experience in their events and to set some goals for the upcoming season. The Boys' Team had some notable performances despite less than ideal training conditions over the first 2 weeks of the season. Reuben Anderson ran an impressive split (1:28.5) in the 4 x 600 meter relay and Tyson Annema ran a PR in the 200m (25.45). Xavier Brown (24'10"), Silas Cowan (24' 7.25") and Freddie Neubert (33'4.5") all threw PRs in the Shot Put. Ezra Foreman jumped to a PR of 16'7" in the Long Jump.
