Varsity vs Unity Christian High Schools Loss The Warriors put forth a valiant effort against top-ranked Unity Christian, but ultimately fell 4-0 in a matchup featuring two state-ranked programs — Unity Christian ranked No. 1 in Division 2 and WMC ranked No. 1 in Division 4. Unity Christian’s pace and experience proved to be the difference, as the Crusaders scored two quick goals in both the first and second halves to take control. Despite the scoreline, the Warriors continued to battle throughout the match, showing moments of dangerous attacking play and intricate passing combinations going forward. “There’s a reason we play these games — to get postseason ready, to test ourselves, and to challenge the girls to step up,” said Coach McFarland. “We’ve gone through a gauntlet to end the season. It’s challenged us, and we’ve grown so much through the back end of the schedule.” The Warriors have also continued to battle through injuries while seeing several younger players rise to the occasion. “We’re still getting healthy. We’ve had so many of our younger players step up, but it’s been the senior leadership of Elaina Clapp and Brynn Evans that’s helped guide us,” McFarland added. McFarland also praised the efforts of Molly Visser, Lainey Postema, Eve Pollock, and Emersyn Paling. “They had tremendous games. Their constant work rate and effort showed all over the field.” The Warriors now return home for their regular season finale against fifth-ranked Aviation Academy in Division 3.
